Facilitating Conversations About Wealth
"Working with Cody was an eye-opening experience. He created a space that felt trusting, even when the conversations were sensitive or high-stakes. Cody’s approach helped us navigate complex dynamics. It was clear he knows how to turn tension into meaningful conversation and real learning."
—Justin Pabalate, Former Director at Willamette Valley Trust
No matter how experienced we are in fundraising, conversations about money can bring up all sorts of feelings.
Even the most seasoned grant writers and development directors can feel hesitation or anxiety.
Over one month, I brought together grant writers, development directors, and fundraisers from ten different organizations.
We facilitated a series of three conversations designed to address these feelings and create productive dialogue.
The first gathering was with one of the largest foundations in Oregon, set in a rose garden. The setting invited ease and reflection.
The second conversation took place at the Reser Performing Arts Center.
The final session was at the home of two well-known philanthropists in Oregon, Ken and Annie Edwards.

This intimate setting allowed deeper exploration of questions and fears about wealth and generosity.
By the end, participants felt more confident, grounded, and capable of having honest conversations about philanthropy.
