La Plaza: Philanthropic Conversations
Rome fell for a reason most historians agree on.
The wealth concentrated at the top stopped circulating, and the people with resources and the people doing the work of holding society together stopped being in relationship with each other.
There is a trillion dollars sitting in approximately 150,000 private foundations in the United States right now, and a significant portion of those dollars are not moving.
It does not have to go this way.
What this is.
La Plaza is a monthly gathering for funders, family foundations, CPAs, and estate attorneys ready to talk honestly about where philanthropic money is going and where it could be going instead.
Some sessions include a foundation doing transformative work in the room. Others look honestly at where money is moving in the wrong direction and why. Both conversations matter.
Private sessions are available for foundations or funders who want the conversation focused entirely on their own giving.
For those who want to go further, in person retreats are available.
What people say.
The foundations I work with prefer to stay private. That is part of the relationship. But here is what a few have shared.
“Thank you for a refreshing approach to fundraising.” —Family foundation, $30M in assets, after a half day facilitation retreat
“You have inspired us to deploy our resources more effectively.” —Family foundation, $1M in funds to deploy, after three months working on their grant process together
“The space you created for us was a breath of fresh air.” — Foundation, $10M in assets
