SmashBits is a full service animation studio producing digital content for some of the most recognized games in the world.

Ricky St. Clair, the founder, reached out to bring in an outside advisor on a project I had no prior experience in. The ask was to advise on, write, and direct a pilot episode for Clash of Clans for the Chief Pat YouTube channel. Ricky was managing dozens of projects simultaneously. So my role was to hear his vision, and then run with it.

My first step was to spend a month playing the game and understanding what the audience deeply cared about before we wrote the script. From there I selected a voice cast and guided both the talent and the animation team through production.

The pilot secured over 3 million views and more than 3,000 comments on the Chief Pat YouTube channel. It performed so well that ChiefPat turned it into a full series.
